Any child who displays the following symptoms at home should remain at home until symptom free without the aid of medication.
If any of these symptoms manifest while in childcare, the child will be isolated immediately and you will be contacted. Child MUST be picked up by a responsible party ASAP. If more than one hour lapse from time parent or guardian is notified and child is picked up, late pick-up fees will be added to your account. Child should remain at home or be picked up if he / she … 1. Requires extra attention that results in the other children not being properly supervised; 2. Fever – Axillary (under the arm) or oral temperature: 100 F. or higher; (child may return when s/he has been fever-free for 24 hrs without the use of fever-reducer such as Tylenol.) 3. Diarrhea – Two or more abnormally loose stools within a 6-hour period; or diarrhea that cannot be contained. After the third really loose stool or if hard cramping, child must stay at home for 24 hours after last episode. 4. Skin Problems – Undiagnosed rashes with fever or other signs of illness. Child needs to stay home until gone or may return with a doctor’s note stating that the child is not contagious. 5. Infected Sores—Sores with crusting, or yellow or green drainage which cannot be covered by clothing or bandages; Must be completely covered in order to return. 6. Eye Drainage / Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) - Suspected redness or discharge from one or both eyes. VERY contagious. Your child will need to be on medication for 48 hours and have a doctor’s release before returning. 7. Nose Drainage – Greenish discharge from the nose might be a sign of infection. Child needs to stay home until gone or may return with a doctor’s note stating that the child is not contagious. Clear, runny nose and slight congestion may indicate allergies. Child may continue attending. However, medication given before the child arrives may help control the symptoms and make your child’s day more enjoyable. 8. Vomiting - DO NOT bring your child if he/she has vomited in the previous 24 hours 9. Sore Throat- If mild, child may attend. Medication to lessen the pain or to dry up sinus drainage given before child arrives in the morning may make your child’s day more enjoyable. If child’s sore throat is accompanied by swollen tonsils or glands, white spots in throat, fever or if child complains of not feeling well or cannot swallow well, he/she needs to stay home until the symptoms are gone or may return with a doctor’s note stating that the child is not contagious. 10. Displays flu like systems; fever, aches and pains, loss of appetite, crankiness, etc. Child must remain at home until symptom free or may return with a note from a doctor stating child is not contagious. 11. Head Lice: Child may return after (s)he has been treated with medicated shampoo and ALL THE NITS ARE REMOVED. A vinegar and water rinse will soften the nits so you can comb them out. 12. Breathing/Coughing - If the cough is minor, your child may continue attending. However, medication given before the child arrives may help control the symptoms and make your child’s day more enjoyable. If the cough is consistent, chronic, deep, or hacking, it might indicate an infection. Child needs to stay home until gone or may return with a doctor’s note stating that the child is not contagious. At any time a child experiencing difficulty breathing, (s)he needs to be evaluated by a doctor. 13. Contagious Illness: Any child with a contagious illness or who displays the symptoms of a contagious illness must be kept at home until symptom free or may return with a doctor’s notice stating that (s)he is not contagious; 14. When Provider is concerned about exposure of other daycare children. If your child is too ill to play, and to participate in both the indoor and outdoor activities, he/she is not well enough to be in the group and will be more comfortable at home. |
