Dentists and Teeth - preschool lesson plans

Arts and Crafts

Dentist Reflector
Have the children cut out two strips of paper that when connected will fit around their head. Connect the strips with glue or tape, (staples will catch the child's hair). Supply each child with a circle shaped piece of tag board and a piece of tin foil. Have the child wrap the tin foil around the tag board. Staple the tag board to the headband. On mine I wrote "Dr. Suzy" and "Dentist Max" or whatever they wanted to be.

Paper Plate Mouth
Supply each child with a small paper plate and tiny marshmallows. Have the children glue the marshmallows around the edge (for teeth). When the glue has tried, fold the plate in half.

Toothbrush Art
Have the children use a toothbrush as a paintbrush.

Health Food Collage
Supply the children with magazines with pictures of food. Have the children cut out health foods and glue the pictures on a piece of paper.

Junk Food Collage
Supply the children with magazines with pictures of food. Have the children cut out junk foods and glue the pictures on a piece of paper.

Games, Math and Science

Teeth?
Discuss animals that have teeth, and those that do not. Make a list. Have the children come up with their own animals.

Count your teeth
Have the children count the teeth in their mouth. Compare results with the class. Graph the results.

Brush your Teeth Program
Have the children brush their teeth after lunch and snacks every day. Have parents provide toothbrush and toothpaste for the children.
